The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. robot vacuums reviews has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. 2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the task of cleaning a whole home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has 100% in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's loud which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.
It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and dries mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the home based on how dirty those areas tend to be.
For larger houses it's recommended to choose one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute little eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we've test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
